Secretary's report for 2005 AGMMGCCMGoT became a Branch of MGCC in March 2004. This was, and continues to be, very good for both parties. MGoT brings a much needed new activity to MGCC. The Car Club provides MGoT with Limited Liability, membership of ATDO, and access to all the Clubs resources, including a half page space in Safety Fast, the MGCC monthly magazine. During the year we have built solid relationships with the CEO Rob Gammage, the Comps Secretary Peter Browning, and the staff at Kimber House. We have managed to attend all the Council meetings and the last MGCC AGM.
MembershipImmediately prior to us becoming a Branch of MGCC our members list stood at approx 200, afterwards we saw an immediate increase in numbers directly as a result of all the coverage in Safety Fast. We were also allocated a stand in the MGCC marquee at Silverstone 80 and although we didn’t have Scalextric or Scratch Cards, we did have a superb display stand and a video, thanks to Neil, Jennie and Bob. We increased the list by approx 30 names over the weekend. Our list has continued to grow and currently stands at approx 600. Of these approx 150 are active track participants. We clearly need to encourage more members out on track. We also need to grow the member base to support our ambitions for a bigger programme of events. Conservatively we need approx 1000 members, with at least 250 active participants.
PartnersEarly in the year it was decided that we needed to offer some ‘value added’ services to the MGoT Membership. Branded Clothing, Action Photographs, Trackday Insurance etc, no trash or trinkets! We also decided that we would not get involved in retailing. What was desired was a ‘risk free’ approach to providing these services, hence the MGoT Partner Scheme was born. This can be either a straight members discount or a franchise arrangement whereby the merchant is authorized to supply their products branded with the MGoT Logo directly to our members. Our current partners are totalMG, Covalart, Gould Autoplates, Lands End, Race Wear, AVO, CG Lock, Headcase, and Peter Best Insurance. All these relationships are in their early days and will be reviewed and renewed as appropriate. We will continue to add a limited number of new partners where possible.
FutureWe will continue as a Branch of MGCC and also continue to reinforce our ‘inclusive’ position to welcome all responsible MG track day enthusiasts who share our values. In particular we are seeking ways of attracting more members from the MGOC.
Our current membership is a great recruitment asset and we will be calling upon them to help us to double the current numbers. We also intend to offer in the near future a loyalty incentive scheme aimed at rewarding those members who are active participants.
