Chairman's report for 2006 AGM

Déjà vu

Looking back at my Chairman’s report from the 2005 AGM it seems that much of that report would hold good for this year. We are still
  • unsure how much we can grow – though the newsletter mailing list has grown from 600 to around 850 now.
  • struggling to find a way of organising events that minimises the impact on the committee’s time and resources – though we’ve finally made a leap forward with our on-line booking system.
  • in need of more help both on the committee and at events – though we’ve gained two new committee members.
  • indebted to Lotus on Track and other clubs for sharing events and lowering the financial risk of our track days.
Yet we’ve made great strides

Although these challenges remain, we have made tremendous progress. In the 2005 season we virtually doubled the number of events on offer with ten track days and one activity day. We visited new circuits like Anglesey and we arranged new types of events like the novice evening at Donington.

Looking forward to 2006 …

With track days geared to the calendar year, having an AGM in April means looking back at the 2005 season, as the 2006 season is well underway.
We still have great ambition. This year will see several firsts – hiring the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, venturing further North to visit Croft, a novice evening at Brands Hatch and sharing events with Club Triumph as well as our usual Lotus and MX5 friends.
We’ll also be completing our website makeover; adding in on-line payment to accompany the online booking.

… and beyond

There’s plenty more we could do. Should we consider track days in Europe, for example? Do we do more frequent events or more varied events? Pay more for weekend dates or stick with cheaper mid-week venues? Do use The Pit Lane to let us know your view.
