Additional Information

Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit

Two MG sessions and one mixed marque
This is a three session per hour day on Silverstone's Grand Prix circuit. Each session lasts 20 mins. We expect each car to have over 2 hours of track time during the day assuming no stoppages. Two sessions will be MGs on Track and one session will be mixed marque.

Once all the MG session bookings are in we'll assign the sessions on the basis of experience, so that one MG session will be more suitable to beginners and the less experienced track day drivers and the other MG session will be for the more experienced.

The mixed marque session is listed as a separate event on the MGoT website (click here) - this session is open to anyone registered on the website or on our mailing list with a compatible car - typically Triumph, Austin Healey, Mini, Lotus, MX5 etc.

Beginners please take note
Silverstone has a unique policy requiring anyone who has never driven on a track before  to be assessed by an instructor before they are allowed out on track. This is a tricky logistical problem at the beginning of the day if we have a large number of first-timers. If there are a large number, then it might be difficult to get everyone assessed without some loss of track time. Unofrtunately, there is nothing we can do about this. No other circuit imposes this restriction and we can only use a limited number of Silverstone staff to do the assessments. Please note that this requirement only applies if you are a first-timer on any circuit. It is not applicable if this is your first time at Silverstone, but have driven on other tracks.

Instruction is available
Instruction with ARDS instructors is available and can be booked online at the same time as you book your place. We strongly recommend that first-timers book an instruction slot. For just £10 you get 20mins of personal tuition; the instructor sitting alongside you in the passenger seat explaining the correct lines and providing guidance on technique. Instruction booked on the day will be £15 and it is likely that only later slots will be available.

Helmet hire
We have been able to get some more helmets for hire.  These can be pre-booked online for £10.

Details about the day
We will email an event guide with final instructions about a week before the event. Please read this carefully. The event guide will also be posted in the Pit Lane under the Silverstone forum.

Cars must be roadworthy and comply with current MOT legislation. You must bring your FULL driving license to the sign-on - that's the plastic card AND the paper version, or you may not be allowed on track.

Booking is only through the website
You need to use the 'Book and Pay' button to secure a place. Online payments by credit or debit card secure places immediately.

Please remember to add your MG Car Club membership number to your website profile before booking to get the MGCC price.

Event Manager
Joe Phillips is the committee member acting as event manager for this day. Please contact him at joep12@hotmail.co.uk  if you have any problems or questions.

Many thanks
