DaveP@MGs-on-Track.co.uk This is not a track day but a Starter Experience - an event for people who want a gentle way into track day fun. It is restricted to absolute beginners or the inexperienced driver who is still not very confident. It helps you explore your car and your confidence under the watchful eye of a performance driving instructor. Numbers are limited to just 23 cars and the emphasis is on driving technique. Only one car is active at a time making it the safest of environments. The day begins with the high-speed bend activity. This mimics the situation of suddenly arriving at a bend when you are going too fast to get around without spinning! Of course, being able to experience a spin safely on a huge patch of tarmac is part of the fun and the experience. The instructor will encourage you to approach the bend faster and faster until you do reach this limit - then he'll teach you what to do, based on your individual reaction to the situation! Once everyone has made some progress with this the day moves on to two coned circuits providing an opportunity to try out your new found skills and explore the capabilities of your car. All of this is great fun, but of course is designed to give you the confidence to come away from the day and book your first track day. It is therefore for TRACK DAY FIRST TIMERS & NOVICES ONLY. No experience is required. No helmets are required. Just you and your car. Please remember to add your MG Car Club membership number to your website profile before booking to get the MGCC price. Please note that payment by credit card incurs a 2.5% surcharge, as we cannot afford to absorb the charge that the credit card processing company makes. Instruction
We encourage all drivers to take the opportunity of instruction with our Association of Racing Drivers Schools (ARDS) Grade A qualified instructors. We strongly advise all levels of experience to take advantage of this. Please note we are unable to provide more than two instruction sessions per car. Any additional booked will have to be cancelled. We regret that instruction is not available in cars which are not fitted with seatbelts.
Coaching
MGoT is pleased to offer an opportunity to develop specific areas of your driving skills to increase your track day enjoyment. Before you spend any more cash on improvements to your car consider this. MGoT will now offer drivers, dedicated, one-on-one coaching with an ARDS instructor for your entire afternoon track time. Places are very limited and the cost is an unbelievable £50! Book and pay at the same time you book your place by selecting the coaching option.
Helmet Hire
We have helmets available to hire on a first come, first served basis and these can be booked online at the same time as you book your place.
Second Drivers
You can book to bring along a second driver but we can only allow one additional driver per car. The second driver must sit as passenger during the sighting laps and then perform their own sighting laps at a lower speed during their first session on track. If your second driver's experience is significantly different to your own, please discuss this with our event manager.
Passengers
Passengers are free, bring as many as you like but only one in a car at a time. Please either enter their names when you book or email the event manager to let them know.
Details about the day
We will email an event guide with final instructions about a week before the event. Please read it carefully when it arrives. The event guide will also be posted in the forum. This day is open to MGs and compatible marques. Please contact the Event Manager listed at the top of this page to ensure your non-MG is considered compatible. We reserve the right to cancel non compatibles.
Cars must be road legal and comply with current MoT legislation where appropriate (or be of MoT standard for race and track-only cars). Drivers must bring their FULL driving licence to sign-on. Failure to do this may mean you will not be allowed on track.
Booking is only through this website
You need to be logged into the website to see the "Book Me" button. Use this to make a secure, online payment to guarantee your place and extras. Debit and Credit Cards are the only form of payment methods we are able to accept.
The MGCC member price will only be given if you have entered your membership number in your website profile HERE BEFORE booking your place. We cannot give retrospective refunds for this.
At our discretion, we will occasionally take bookings from MGoT members who have compatible cars other than MGs. Anyone wanting to book a non-MG should CONTACT US by phone or email. The online booking system is reserved for MGs or Rovers only.
